Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott College, Northern Arizona University/Yavapai, Yavapai College, the Mountain Institute Joint Vocational District (MIJTED), and training programs offered through the Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG), combined with a growing population provide a skilled workforce that meets the demands of today‚Äôs advanced manufacturing and knowledge-based industries.

There are a total of 5,113 employers located in the region that employ just over 46,000 individuals. Of these 46,086 individuals, 66% of them work in businesses with less than 5 employees. However, 407 companies employ between 20 and 249 employees. 

The greatest number of employees working in local industry sectors are: Services (20,488); Retail Trade (10,407); Public Administration (4,041); Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate (3,196); and Manufacturing (2,223). In regards to total employees by occupation, the top five are: Office and Administrative Support (7,638); Sales (5,639); Executive, Managers, and Administrators (4,150); Education, Training, Library (2,902); and Food Preparation and Serving (2,685). In comparison, the top business by establishment type are: Health and Medical Services (583); Banks and Financial Institutions (260); Real Estate (257); Specialty Stores (233); and Heavy Construction (223).
